Trucking Compliance Services in Edmonton

Edmonton is where a great deal of Alberta's freight turns north. Carriers running out of here serve oilfield, construction and resource work on routes and schedules that put more strain on equipment and on hours of service than long-haul general freight does.

Our office on 101 Street works with carriers across the capital region and northern Alberta.

Alberta's requirements, briefly

Carriers here operate under a Safety Fitness Certificate rather than a CVOR certificate, with Transportation and Economic Corridors as the responsible ministry. Our Calgary page sets out how Alberta's carrier profile and scoring work, so this page stays on what is different about running north.

What northern operations make harder

Three things, consistently.

Hours of service. Long distances, remote sites and unpredictable wait times make logs harder to keep clean than they are on a scheduled lane. This is where most northern carriers lose points.

Maintenance records. Gravel, winter and heavy loads mean more defects, which is not itself a problem. The problem is proving each defect was found, reported, repaired and documented before the unit went back out.

Seasonal drivers. Crews that scale up and down leave gaps in driver qualification files, and a file for a driver who worked three months still has to be complete and still has to be retained after they leave.
