Alberta does not use CVOR. If you have moved here from Ontario, or you run trucks in both provinces, that difference is the first thing worth getting straight, because the certificate, the regulator and the record are all different.

Carriers operating under the National Safety Code in Alberta hold a Safety Fitness Certificate rather than a CVOR certificate. The province keeps a carrier profile on each operator: a consolidated record of convictions, administrative penalties, CVSA inspection results, collision information and facility audit outcomes. A standard profile covers the most recent twelve months.
Alberta scores that record to identify its highest-risk carriers, roughly the top five percent, and those operators receive intervention. The lead ministry is Transportation and Economic Corridors.
The practical consequence is the same as Ontario even though the machinery differs. Your record is visible, it drives whether the regulator comes looking, and it affects what you pay for insurance.
Two patterns come up repeatedly here. The first is cross-border and cross-provincial operators who keep one set of records and assume it satisfies every jurisdiction they run in. It usually does not. The second is carriers in energy services and heavy haul, where equipment, permits and driver qualifications are more complicated than general freight and the paperwork falls behind faster.
